Poldark season 4 episode 3 spoilers: Ross’ challenge in Parliament

Poldark season 4 episode 3

Before we dive too far into this Poldark season 4 episode 3 article, here is another reminder that there are some spoilers ahead from the UK airing of the show! Read on with that in mind…

If you are still with us, you know following the conclusion to this past episode that Ross Poldark is in a position that he certainly did not expect. He didn’t expect to win the election and enter Parliament and with that, he now faces a world in which he will have to compete with other people who could care less about the plight of the commoner. These are people interested in using government to become richer and more powerful. That’s going to cause him many headaches, and ultimately could prove to be rather depressing for him.

For a little more news on this subject, take a look at what executive producer Debbie Horsfield has to say to the Radio Times:

“Regardless of gender, Ross soon discovers that he has to fight to be taken seriously. This is no Mr Ross Goes to Washington.

“When he gets to that bigger stage he finds that he’s up against MPs who are not interested in changing the world, they’re just interested in improving their own bank balances or spheres of influence.”

We imagine that over the course of this episode Ross is going to wrestle with many different emotions, but he may also realize just what his capacity is for changing Cornwall. The fights that he encounters, though, are going to be more dramatic and public for ever before. More people know his name, and with that there is a much larger base that will be sitting idly by in order to determine if he fails.
