After Game of Thrones season 8, Kit Harington plotting big change

Kit Harington

Once Game of Thrones season 8 production is complete, it looks like Kit Harington is planning to embrace the next phase of his life. How much so? Let’s just say that he is looking to completely alter everything about his appearance.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a recent interview, the actor confirmed that he is very much interested in undergoing a dramatic change — especially when it comes to his appearance:

“I’d like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognizable as the character, and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone … The beard will be harder to get rid of — I quite like the beard. I like having the long hair and beard both, but it will be like ritualistic thing. I can’t go into my next role looking the same. This role was brilliant, but I’ll need to get rid of Jon Snow.”

Harington probably does have a point in that if he cuts his hair and shaves his beard, he can probably traverse some other parts of the world and have people not recognize him at all. He’ll probably still get found out closer to home, largely because he still has some other recognizable features. Game of Thrones is such a life-altering show, though, that any actor from it will likely be thought of as their character for decades — that’s something many performers likely accept and are happy with, but there is still certainly a desire for many to go on and do many other things.

There are some actors who, thanks to the appearance of their characters, have been able to hide more off-screen. In the early seasons, Emilia Clarke was able to thanks to having darker hair; yet, that started to change once she started to get movie roles and was a little more done beyond just Daenerys Targeryan.

Game of Thrones will premiere its final season in 2019. If you haven’t heard more about some of the spin-off prospects, be sure to head over to the link here to read more.
