Supergirl season 4 premiere date hopes for Melissa Benoist, cast

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

Following tonight’s finale on The CW, what will the Supergirl season 4 premiere date be? CarterMatt has some early speculation on that subject!

Let’s of course kick things off with another reminder that there will be a Supergirl season 4. This news was confirmed by the network earlier this year and honestly there wasn’t really any doubt that we were going to get this. Why in the world would the network abandon one of its biggest shows? It continues to get solid ratings and while we don’t think that the rest of season 3 has completely lived up to the potential that it had during the first thirteen or so episodes, this is still a worthy show with some great moments and a message that is very appealing during these hyper-uncertain times.

One thing that you should know here is that when Supergirl season 4 does in fact premiere, it’s going to do so in a different timeslot than it has in the past. Think along the lines here of Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, where it will be paired with Charmed. This is the first time in many years that the network has chosen to air on this night, and we feel like one of the simple reasons why The CW is going with Supergirl to lead that off is that it’s a solid, reliable show that will bring in that audience — it’s also solid counter-programming since there isn’t anything else quite like it on the air at that time.

We anticipate that the Supergirl season 4 premiere date will probably be in October with the rest of the network’s fall premiere dates — think in terms of October 7, October 14, or October 21. There’s a good chance that the premiere date will be confirmed a little bit later this summer. Hopefully, the series performs well enough within this timeslot that it eventually earns itself a season 5 renewal.
