Doctor Who season 11 Comic-Con panel set featuring Jodie Whittaker, cast

Doctor Who season 11 panel

For everyone wondering, Doctor Who season 11 is officially going to be promoted at San Diego Comic-Con — and Jodie Whittaker will be bringing some of her friends in tow.

BBC America announced this week that Whittaker will be joined by actors Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill, showrunner Chris Chibnall, and executive producer Matt Strevens for the event, which will certainly be one of the most notable panels at the convention this year. It will be moderated by noted Doctor Who fan Chris Hardwick and offers the first time that SDCC fans will have to see Whittaker in person. She’s been at work for most of the year making the series as great as it can possibly be.

As most Doctor Who fans know, this season has a great deal of mystery surrounding it. There has not been too much in the way of official footage shared, let alone photos shared in an official capacity beyond the one featuring Whittaker in costume. Maybe that will change in the weeks to come, and we certainly anticipate that more will be available by the time that the Comic-Con panel happens. if not, it would certainly be a big surprise. (They wouldn’t end the panel without giving something away, would they?)

New episodes of Doctor Who season 11 are currently slated to premiere later this year both on BBC and BBC America. The episodes are meant to be a little bit longer than in past seasons, but that is compensated slightly by you getting less of them overall. We don’t have too many specific expectations at this point, other than just that we want to be entertained. We want the episodes to be imaginative, surprising, and feature Whittaker in the best way possible. We do have a lot of faith in Chibnall based on his past work doing Broadchurch.

What do you want to see from the Doctor Who season 11 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and what do you want to see from the season overall? Be sure to share in the comments.
