This is an episode that could be a game-changer for the third season and it’s coming around at just about the right time. You’ve gotten a chance to get to know some of these characters better in an interesting way — that’s rare for a show already so far into the series’ run. This episode seems to be especially important from the vantage point of relationships and seeing how some of them function.
How is it performing?
We hope that as the summer goes along, Queen Sugar finds a way to stabilize in some of its numbers. After all, it premiered with just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic. However, for the third episode of the season it generated a 0.2 rating. That’s a pretty big drop this early in the season and we say that even with the knowledge that many shows often drop one week to the next.
Even with the drop in mind, though, we remain optimistic about the show’s future, largely because of its consistent social presence. So long as it keeps some of that up, it could be around for quite some time.
