Insecure season 3 wraps filming; the long wait continues
For everyone who remains excited to see Insecure season 3 premiere on HBO later this year, we come bearing good news! Another major milestone in the waiting process can be checked off, as production recently wrapped for the latest batch of episodes.
In a new post on Twitter, this was confirmed by none other than series star Issa Rae herself, joking that she will not be sober for the rest of the week thanks to being done with production once and for all. The latest batch of episodes will premiere a little bit later this year, and it will feature Issa making a strong effort to figure out what her life looks like after a season full of romantic and personal drama. There is going to be a lot of humor coming up, but it’s relatable humor that reminds you of who these characters are and what some of their struggles are rooted in.
Rae also recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, where she made a few thoughts clear when it comes to some of the themes that are going to be explored in new episodes:
“I don’t want to give anything away … I love black masculinity as it relates to black women. I think that’s something interesting that we haven’t gotten a chance to explore yet—and specifically toxic male black masculinity as it relates to black women. I’m trying to find a way to explore that and get a rounded storyline that isn’t preachy.”
One of the things that does make Insecure production so intense for Rae in particular is because she’s deeply involved in the writing process to go along with acting on the series. She puts a lot of her creativity and passion into the show and through two seasons, it’s clearly showed. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
