Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson reportedly engaged to Ariana Grande
This news was first reported by Us Weekly, who quotes a source saying that the two are very much in love and while they wanted to take this step, the plan is for this to be a long engagement. One of the reasons why this particular engagement is especially relevant to SNL itself is that it’s possible that the two originally started to form a bond back when Grande hosted in March 2016. Moving forward, don’t you have to think that this could be a subject for some sketches? That just feels inevitable. This is also not the only relationship that has been going on between an SNL cast member and a former host — Colin Jost has been in a relationship with Scarlett Johansson for some time now.
While it may seem like an unusual pair at first, the two actually have a good bit in common. For starters, both have a tremendous sense of humor — even before her SNL hosting gig Grande had made headlines for some of her impressions of other singers. Beyond this, the two have also went through some devastating and trying times in their lives.
SNL will be back at some point later this year. I don’t exactly think the show will be booking Grande as a host again because of this (she did a rather good job on her own), it may be another incentive to get her on board as a host early on in the season. By getting engaged, the two are certainly opening themselves up to a more public relationship than they may have otherwise. (Yet, they’ve hardly been shy when it comes to discussing it on social media in the first place.)
