Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 9: Is Alicia in charge now?

Alycia Debnam-Carey

Moving into Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 9, we have many different questions worth pondering over, but many of the biggest ones revolve around where everyone on the show really fits into the world to come.

Ultimately, one of the biggest questions that we have revolves around Alicia Clark. Is this really her show now? If you think back to the actual pilot episode of this series, Alycia Debnam-Carey is the only regular who was present there and is still moving forward with the series — provided of course that Madison is dead. It certainly seems that way at the moment, but technically we never saw a body and with this world, we’re somewhat hesitant to say anything once and for all.

For the time being, though, we’re going into the second half of this season thinking that Alicia is now the main point-of-view character and the person we are the most invested in. That does make some sense, given that she arguably has been through the biggest transformation out of anyone from the start of the season. She’s literally lost every single person she was close to and has to now figure out a way to not just survive, but be a leader and help other people through whatever they are suffering from. She will probably take some of the lessons left by her mother and apply them as best she can. There’s almost a reverse Rick / Carl element here.

One of the only cast members of Fear the Walking Dead from the first season still around is Victor Strand … though he didn’t show up until near the end of season 1. Beyond that, a returning Daniel Salazar would be the only way to build another bit of connective tissue from the show’s original run.
