When will Grey’s Anatomy season 15 officially start filming? It’s never too early to start pondering over that!
For at least the immediate future, however, we are going to be left in waiting. The ABC series is not going to get back to work at least on filming for the next month or so, but come late July, you can probably start to expect to see it inch ever closer to coming back. Typically, that is around when filming officially starts going in Los Angeles.
What makes the timeline a little bit more complicated, at least in terms of comparing this past season to prior ones, is that season 14 actually did not start filming at all in California. Instead, it took off in Seattle! The first several days of production were actually up in Washington State getting a lot of footage to be used at some other points this season, which is something that we absolutely did appreciate when it comes to getting a little bit more authenticity on the show. Going on-location is not something that everyone show gets a chance to do and we really feel like, in this case, it is a testament to the show’s success that they find a way to make it happen.
It is certainly possible that Grey’s Anatomy figures out a way to do something fairly similar when it comes to on-location shooting again, but for now, we don’t have any particular confirmation on that subject. Hopefully, more news will start to pop up as we get closer to the date. The most notable announcement this offseason is likely the promotion of Kim Raver to series regular; we wouldn’t be surprised if at least one more person is added to the cast, whether that be Scott Speedman (who played Nick Marsh) or someone totally new.
