Is Timeless season 3 premiere best suited for the summer?

Timeless season 2

Unfortunately, at the moment we are still stuck waiting for news on Timeless season 3. Hopefully, that changes over the coming weeks, but while we wait isn’t it all right to stop in and have a few discussions along the way? We like to think so.

For this particular article, out we were speaking mostly about premiere dates. Season 2 aired Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time in the spring, and that is totally not a great timeslot for the vast majority of shows are out there. That’s especially true for one with a large family audience. There are seemingly many families out there who are not able to watch simple due to when the show comes on.

Is there a better one out there? That is a question that many people understandably should have. The unfortunate news is that in looking at the ratings for season 2, it’s hard to imagine NBC moving the show to a time slot that is a little bit more suitable for the audience that Timeless attracts. With that, you almost have to look to a different time of the year all together.

So why not take a look at the summer? What’s so wrong with Timeless staring at that point in the year? There’s really nothing at all. The one obvious drawback of premiering in the summer is simply the fact that it is a long wait. Nobody wants to have to sit around for a good year in between one season and the next. Yet, it’s possible we will have to if the show is brought back. As painful as that would be, we would be more than fine with it if it comes up producing better ratings and keeping the show around for a season 4. We don’t want season 3 to be the end, after all!

Look at the average NBC summer schedule, and you will see that there are possible venues for it to air. The network is already devoting one night a week to America’s Got Talent, and another night a week is devoted to American Ninja Warrior. We still think there are holes on other nights a week that would work just fine for Timeless to air in, especially when it comes to beginning at a time earlier than 10.

Beyond just all of this, it just feels like Timeless is perfectly suited to be a summer slot. While it touches on serious subjects, it is for the most part light-hearted, fun, and adventurous show. It feels like a very intelligent summer movie at times, and it may be able to attract a wider audience where there is less competition on the air and there are more people looking for something that’s just easy to dive into and enjoy.
