Goliath season 2 preview: What’s next for Billy McBride?

Goliath season 2

Come Friday, June 15 on Amazon, Goliath season 2 is going to be officially coming on the air. With that, you’re also going to get an opportunity to see further that Billy McBride’s life and work sure are not getting any easier. When is a case not just a case? You will see that over the course of this season.

Of course, we also do think it’s necessarily to point out that for Billy, many of his wounds are self-inflicted. This is a man who has a tendency to create his own trouble through the cases that he takes on the schemes he ropes himself into. The trailer below shows the furthest extent of the moves he makes: Battles, brutal and violent, all across the city streets of Los Angeles and Venice. This looks to be a chaotic season, one that fries to match the intensity of what the series first brought to you the first time around.

The appeal of watching Goliath, beyond of course the writing and the story itself, will be the performance of Billy Bob Thornton as McBride. We’re always fascinated by performers like him, people who do not have to continue seeking work but do so out of passion and interest in the material. There’s something about Billy that makes him the perfect role for Thornton at this point in his career; he has a certain swagger about him, but also a need that never gets fulfilled no matter how hard he tries. This is a role that could propel the actor back into awards consideration if he plays his cards right.

Will season 2 lead into season 3? There is no official renewal just yet, but the beauty of a show like Goliath is that one isn’t necessarily needed. This is a series that should be taken and explored on a season-by-season basis, continuing to compile good stories with intriguing concepts until all parties behind the scenes shrug their shoulders and just proclaim that they are done. The moment that happens, there is little else to say or tell.

Be sure to keep track of the archive page here, since the moment Goliath arrives on Amazon, we will begin to post some of our episode reviews for your reading enjoyment. There’s a lot to appreciate ahead!
