When will NCIS season 16 start filming?
Let’s kick things off here by getting some of the obvious out of the way: NCIS season 15 just ended at the end of this past month, and filming for this show never begins in June. Typically, NCIS filming officially kicks off in mid-to-late July, and that is precisely what we expect to see here. There are few public filming dates out there just yet but know this: The recent cast departures shouldn’t really have too much of an impact at all when it comes to season 16 production. The writers are going to have plenty of time to come up with some great stories, which they will do over the weeks ahead. They will probably do some of this with a reasonable understanding as to if they want to introduce some new characters along the way.
The first order of business for the NCIS team is going to be figuring out what they want to do with Vance, given that the character’s capture at the end of season 15 was the biggest cliffhanger. Beyond that, they can figure out what they want to do when it comes to other cast members. Do you keep someone like Kasie around after she made an impression at the end of season 15? We wouldn’t be shocked to see her stick around, just as we also would not be shocked if there is another cast member hired beyond her. As of right now, there are two different voids to fill: The one left by Pauley Perrette and also the one left by Duane Henry.
More than likely, there will be a good two-plus months between the start of filming and the NCIS season 16 premiere date. For now, we expect that to be at some point in late September.
