Arrow season 7: How Emily Bett Rickards sees the future
Is Arrow season 7 going to bring us closer to the end of the road? We’ve finally made it to the point in the show’s run where everyone starts to raise questions about how long the series can last. That’s understandable we would get there — seven years is a long time in which to be on the air and eventually, you have to worry that either the ratings are going to drop significantly or the story itself is just going to start winding down.
Either way, when it comes to Arrow one thing absolutely feels clear: There are no plans at the moment for season 7 to be the show’s last. There’s probably a little bit of life of these characters yet, especially when you think about the plans to introduce Batwoman for the first time into the Arrowverse.
For Emily Bett Rickards in particular, she seems to think that the ending of the series will be geared more by the story than by the show’s ratings. Here is some of what she had to say on the matter via TV Guide:
“What we only want to do in TV and entertainment is to tell stories and to tell good stories and hopefully influence the world… and sometimes the best way to do that is to have a new show and sometimes the best way to do that is to keep the show going … I think [the end of the series] would depend on what the sort of goal would be when Season 7 wraps. I think it would have to depend on how this one goes. People could say that’s in terms of popularity but I think it also has to go in terms of story and where’s the best way to take the story.”
Season 7 premieres on The CW this fall and based on the ending of season 6, it definitely feels like there are a lot of interesting directions that the writers can veer off into.
