How Blue Bloods season 9 can circle back to Jamko proposal

Personally, one of the few things I was bummed out about regarding the surprise engagement at the end of season 8 was not getting to see it actually happen. Instead, Jamie brought Eddie over for family dinner and announced to everyone that they were getting married. While this was a very sweet and certainly surprising moment, it also left out many key details. The reason the writers probably did that is twofold: This is not really the sort of show to spend a tremendous amount of time on a romantic subplot, and beyond all of that they needed to make a pretty firm commitment in order to ensure some stability at their job.

With the understanding that the Jamko proposal scene is probably never going to be shown (Blue Bloods does not do flashbacks and it’s hard to think that is going to change now), are there some other ways to learn about what exactly happened? Certainly.

1. Dialogue – This the easiest way to get some details on how it went down. Just feature Jamie and Eddie having some conversation and, somewhere in the middle of that, tell us more about how the proposal actually happened. It does feel like something that they would reminisce about (they’re in love!) and it doesn’t have to feel forced.

2. Revisit the place the proposal happened – That feels like something that could happen either organically since, unless it was a super-informal thing, Jamie probably did it at a place that means something to the two of them. That’s a chance to give you more insight on the relationship without just giving you the same thing that already happened.

No matter what, It should be pretty clear what I want in season 9: More Jamko! the more we all as viewers can understand the relationship, the better Blue Bloods will be.
