While there were many different surprises that we had over the course of the past year (especially when it comes to cast shake-ups), one that definitely caught us off-guard was the lack of some big team-up episode for these two different shows. It had been a tradition-of-sorts for the first three years to do one, and it’s certainly something that we would like to see happen again. Last season, it’s certainly possible that the focus was elsewhere, and it’s certainly true that cultivating these events is no easy task. You have to figure out how to get the schedules aligned and, from there, you also have to figure out the proper way in which to get some agents from one city to the next. It’s hard to do a full crossover where you have the entire casts of both shows together, but even just having a few characters make the jump from one show to the next would be very much appreciated.
So what could the story be? The easy thing to do is to make it about some sort of large-scale threat that prompts the teams in the two different cities to work together. We’d like to see some of the New Orleans agents head to DC to at least kick things off, if for no other reason than that we like that particular mixture of skill sets. The New Orleans crew is excellent at working without a lot of resources, at least in comparison to the team over in DC. We do think that this can be rather useful when it comes to taking on many different emergency situations. They know how to got off the grid and also how to succeed in doing so.
Beyond just this, we’re very fond of getting to see different character combinations working together. Given that we have not exactly seen Maria Bello alongside any of the New Orleans cast members yet, that could be fun. Beyond that, it’s perfectly conceivable that we end up seeing some new actors on both of these shows after the departures of Shalita Grant, Duane Henry, and Pauley Perrette. That only adds to the possibilities.
