Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists boss promises Emily / Alison explanation
Ultimately, you had to know that there was going to be speculation/questions galore out there about the absence of Emily, and with that in mind, executive producer I. Marlene King had the following to say to TVLine:
“You learn in the pilot why Alison is there, and what’s going on with her and Emily”
As for whether or not that will be enough in order to satisfy some fans, that very much remains to be seen. We’re hoping that the show offers up a new mystery and some excitement, but also without compromising anything that we really liked about the original show, either. It’s a delicate balancing act that the new show has to achieve and we certainly think the pressure is on King and the writers to deliver on this. We also do think that Freeform as a network does very much need a new hit, especially given the fact that no other show since Pretty Little Liars has been able to come close to matching the level of attention it received during its heyday. We also think that the new show is going to very much have a challenge matching it in its own right.
For now, we’ll give the show a chance and see precisely what happens on the other side.
