The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 books Zachary Levi for recurring role

Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2

As someone who will gleefully report about any sort of role featuring Zachary Levi, the following definitely does make us smile — the Chuck alum will be a part of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, you are going to see Levi appear throughout the upcoming season as an “eclectic Manhattan doctor who suddenly starts orbiting the Weissman/Maisel world.” That’s not the most in-depth character description that we’ve ever received, but it’s enough to probably tantalize many Chuck fans out there who remain eager to see him in more stuff. This is an especially great gig for him, largely because it represents him getting to be a part of a show with a rather substantial fan base already and, to go along with that, one that has received some awards consideration in the past. We know that with Shazam coming up, the future is looking especially bright for Levi.

Some of Zachary’s other recent credits include Heroes. Reborn, Thor: Ragnarok, Alias Grace, and of course the villain on the recent Psych: The Movie.

This casting news is coming on the heels of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel getting renewed for a third season by Amazon — the second season is currently filming and we hope that it will launch either near the end of the year or early next. Once we’ve got a little bit more news on that subject, obviously we will let you know. The season 3 renewal in general is a part of Amazon’s push to create more large-scale hit programming; they’ve started to sense momentum building on this show and with that in mind, it makes sense that they want to jump on it. Securing the show’s long-term future should help to build a little bit of confidence.
