Fear the Walking Dead season 5 renewal: When’s it going to happen?
We know that, at least when it comes to content alone, there is certainly a case for AMC to go ahead and make the order official. The zombie drama has taken some enormous risks to date this season, but most of them luckily are paying off. Most of the new characters have worked, the stakes are high, and above all else, there is a genuine sense of mystery here that we didn’t see in the three seasons that aired beforehand. While we don’t think that the multiple timelines are going to work for the series forever, we do still think that they are working out rather well at the moment. Whether it be Madison’s survival or the current state of some allegiances, there is some interesting drama that we’re getting a chance to see play out here.
The earlier that Fear the Walking Dead gets that season 5 renewal, the sooner in turn they can start trying out some new stories. One of the best things that this show can do now is to keep trying to play around with the story, and not prioritize anywhere near as much trying to be some sort of mainstream zombie show — that’s what The Walking Dead proper is for! We much prefer Fear the Walking Dead when it is weird and experimental, and with that when the writers are getting a chance to play around and see if some different things work. It can go for some more critical reception, since it doesn’t really have the weight of adapting some sort of big-name comic book on its shoulders.
Technically, there isn’t a huge hurry to renew the series, as filming wouldn’t kick off for a while still if it was brought back. Still, we subscribe to the belief that the sooner it happens, the better off that the show will be in the end.
