The Flash season 5, Legends of Tomorrow season 4, and Wally West questions galore
For the time in which we saw the character appear on Legends of Tomorrow season 4, it felt like he fit in there even better than he did The Flash. He had a chance to stand on his own two feet separate from Barry Allen, and beyond that he had a fun rapport with many different members of the team. With that, why not include him further?
We should not that for now, there is no confirmation that Wally is leaving either this show or The Flash — instead, we just wonder if there is an intentional air of mystery about him. For example, maybe the character is coming back to The Flash for an arc and the writers don’t want to ruin it. Or, maybe his appearance on Legends of Tomorrow is very much mysterious in its own right coming up. The struggle with this character is that he is constantly straddling two different worlds.
In terms of his personal life and his backstory, it makes more sense to have him on The Flash — that is where his family is, and that’s also where his mentor ir in Barry. Unfortunately, the problem with his presence there is that it’s harder for a character like Wally to find his own voice and his purpose. In terms of being a superhero he is a better fit on Legends of Tomorrow, but there is always a sense of flux that comes along with that show. It feels like other than its core group there are near-constant changes on the Waverider and we don’t see that changing anytime soon.
All we ask, at least for now, is that there is some sort of word as to Wally’s future over the summer. Don’t blindside everyone with his absence when the shows premiere!
