Outlander notes: Home stretch of filming; TV Choice Awards voting

Outlander

Welcome to our Friday edition of Outlander notes! We’ve got a couple of different stories to update you on here, but it all begins with a note on the latest awards show in need of your votes!

Today, we refer you over to the TV Choice Awards website, where Outlander is nominated for Best Drama Series. Do we wish that it was up for even more categories? Absolutely, but it appears as though most of the individual awards are for British television shows. (Yes, we know that Outlander is a show filmed in Scotland with a largely-local crew … TV is complicated sometimes.) We’ll be happy for whatever recognition Outlander gets here, largely because it is a chance to give the series a larger platform. In this case, it needs it just because viewers actually have to wait a long time to see the series on regular television. (New episodes stream on Amazon before they eventually arrive on More4 down the road.)

We are certainly all for Outlander winning as many different fan-voted awards as possible. Remember that the show is still the reigning champion in the People’s Choice Awards for a number of different categories; beyond that, it also has been the recipient of many CarterMatt Awards the past few years.

Voting for this round of the TV Choice Awards is going to continue from now until you get around to June 1 at midnight.

As for some other news on the show…

Remember that we are near the end of the road when it comes to filming! Earlier this week Sam Heughan said that he will be resuming work on the show next week for the final episode; meanwhile, Sophie Skelton seemed to suggest in a rather-humorous post on Twitter earlier this week that she was currently in the midst of work on the show.

Outlander production is going to keep going until June, and we hope that by the end of it we’re going to see some sort of grand celebration. Given that production has been going on since October, we do think this is cause for a great wrap party.
