NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 finale: How worried should we be for Densi?
If you were just to watch the promo below for Sunday night’s finale, it is easy to say there is a cause for concern. After all, just look at where things stand in the scene that is shown in there. Based on what Kensi is saying, it appears as though unless she leaves her job, Deeks could actually consider leaving her. Just the idea of that alone is devastating, and it doesn’t actually sound like something Deeks would say. This is a guy who, while goofy at times, has always been strong and supportive of his fiancee in most of her efforts. The only reason that he could possibly be freaking out right now is just because of some of the recent danger that the two of them have been in, and also his own desire to move away from the job in order to start a bar. Still, it feels out of character for him to issue such an ultimatum.
Now while it’s understandable to freak out about this, and I write this is somebody who did freak out for a second upon first seeing it, there’s a good chance that things aren’t going to be anywhere near as devastating as they appear. Just remember the fact that CBS of course wants there to be viewers for their finale! Obviously, they are going to promote the most drama possible when it comes to the Deeks – Kensi relationship, since that will get viewers watching as a result. That is especially true when you consider where the two are and their relationship right now. We are so close to that wedding happening, so of course there is going to be some drama thrown in there at the very last second.
As crazy as it may sound, I’m actually a little more optimistic about there being a wedding after viewing this promo then I was back before it aired. Now, it seems like there could be a trajectory where the writers go from an extreme low for these two characters to one of the highest highs imaginable. That would take viewers on quite the emotional journey, and potentially also tie up the season in a great, rewarding way.
Unfortunately one way or another, the wait until Sunday is going to feel like months. That’s what happens when you get to the end of the season and there’s a really exciting finale at the very end.
