For those of you who have been eager to see more of Sam Heughan on television, today is the day! The Outlander star is appearing on an Adventure Show special entitled Take a Hike, which is very much all about exploring the beauty of Scotland.
While there have been a few little previews about the special here and there over the past couple of weeks, what we’ve got for you today is a little more information in regards to what the special is actually about. Take a look below via BBC Two:
In an Adventure Show special, Cameron McNeish explores our deep-seated passion for walking, something that stretches back through the centuries.
It’s an important part of our social history and is embedded in the Scottish psyche. And, as Cameron discovers, its something that attracts all kinds of people – from outdoor veterans such as trail-hardened Chris Townsend, who are out for months at a time, to Sam Heughan, star of the cult television series Outlander.
While obviously getting Heughan on board for the special is a nice little ratings boost for the series, at the same time this is not just bringing on a big name for the sake of doing so. There is a very specific purpose to Sam’s appearance and we do think that it will be helpful to furthering host Cameron McNeish’s goal of celebrating Scottish nature and getting out in it. For one, Sam is quite influential with his fans; beyond that, we imagine that The Adventure Show is going to do a remarkable job of capturing the area in all of its glory.
If you do want to see the latest preview regarding the special, you can do so via the tweet below — just know that this one doesn’t offer up too much Sam footage. (Given that it’s only 20 seconds long, it doesn’t really offer up too much footage of any one thing in general.)
Remember now that if you are located outside of the UK, there should be information within a day or two about how to watch the special. As soon as that is available, we will have it for you here.
