Chicago Med season 3: Could someone be leaving?
To be specific, at the moment we are rather concerned about what happened with Dr. Connor Rhodes. He was a hero after jumping in to the operation to save the conjoined twins and in the aftermath of that, an enormous offer was handed to him at the Mayo Clinic. Is Colin Donnell leaving Chicago Med as a result of that? It’s fair to wonder about that.
If we know one thing about Connor as a character, it’s this: He is intent on taking on challenging patients and helping patients that can’t get help elsewhere. When you think about his pursuit of said goals, it’s pretty darn clear that there is no perfect place for him to go than the Mayo Clinic. This is one of the most well-known treatment centers in the entire country and getting a job offer to go there is an absolute dream.
With that being said, though, there are some elements of this decision that could complicate things for Connor. For starters, he has a family both within the hospital and out in Chicago. Is he really going to want to walk away from that? It’s a fair question to wonder. Beyond just that, there is an attraction that is clear between Connor and Ava and maybe that holds him back. There is also one other component here to think about: Whether or not Connor feels like he really earned the job, given that originally it was his own decision to back out of doing the surgery. He may feel like he needs to do something more still to be worthy of it. You could tell that Ava on some level resented him for the offer, even if she didn’t say it.
For now, there is no public suggestion that Donnell is leaving the series — for the time being, consider that a sign of hope. (If that changes, we’ll share with you here.)
Here’s some good news: Based on Donnell’s tweet below, it does seem as though he plans to be back.
