NCIS season 15: Will Kasie Hines replace Abby Sciuto?
In the aftermath of Abby’s departure on the series last week, Gibbs made some “arrangements” in order to ensure that there was a forensic scientist around to help out. While Diona Reasonover’s character was not necessarily hired full-time to help out with the case, at the same time she brought some energy and expertise to the proceedings. She also did call Abby and get her blessing before ever opting to come on board. She’s clearly handling the idea of taking the job the right way, even if it is still not entirely clear as to whether or not she is actually going to do it.
We suppose that technically, there may not be all that great of a sense of urgency here when it comes to Kasie joining the team full-time. For starters, we don’t think that NCIS is in all that big of a hurry to hire someone else full-time as a regular. There’s a good chance over the course of the summer to do that, especially when they get a chance to assess what fans think about this character. What we like about Kasie is that she’s got her own quirky stories and personality that is distinct — she’s not a carbon copy of Abby, but she has enough of her traits to be interesting to watch.
Meanwhile, we don’t think that the NCIS team is altogether interested in giving anyone an immediate promotion, either. There is already doing a job search going on with some of the characters and they may want to complete that. Finally, remember this — Kasie technically already has a job working alongside Ducky and if she is to take on this job, she will have to move away from the other one. Technically, we do think that Ducky will understand her wanting to do this since he understands the value of the NCIS team.
