The Arrangement season 3 renewal hopes: Will E! series return?
Let’s talk first and foremost the facts: There is no official renewal at the moment for the drama series, which explores a very specific part of society that doesn’t get talked about in entertainment press as much as it used to. Hopefully, this is something that E! does change in the near future given that this is a show that is bringing a lot of interesting drama to the table — it’s addicting and the network doesn’t have a whole lot out there quite like it at present.
When it comes to gauging the show’s chances at coming back, we’re looking at a case here of good news and bad. In terms of good news, the series averaged a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and given that E! is still a network trying to get together a sturdy lineup of scripted programming, we don’t think that this is necessarily all that bad.
However, when you think about the show’s performance year to year, things start to get a little bit more troubling. The series is down more than 35% on average in the demo versus season 1, and there may be a concern on the part of E! if that trend continues. It’s always a big risk to keep a show around that isn’t retaining viewers and for one reason or another, that’s happening here.
We think that from the vantage point of E!, it makes sense to give The Arrangement one more season, if for no other reason than it would enable them to show a little bit of loyalty to a scripted property at a time in which they don’t have much in the way of this sort of programming. If they want season 3 to be a final season, they can announce that then and ensure that there is a fitting conclusion.
