Clayne Crawford responds to Lethal Weapon firing, season 3 order

Lethal Weapon season 2

Following the dismissal of Clayne Crawford from Lethal Weapon season 3, and the eventual casting of Seann William Scott in a new role, the actor is speaking out. However, it’s not to do anything other than congratulate the cast and crew and wish them the best.

In the Instagram post below, you can see some of what Clayne had to say — if you can’t view it for some reason, it goes as follows: “To my cast and crew — CONGRATULATIONS on season 3! To the Fans — Thank you for the overwhelming support and love. Riggs was a dream role and the experience will live with me forever. My heart is full. Good Luck [next] season!!” It’s a positive message meant to wish everyone the best, which is probably as supportive as he could possibly be given what is a very delicate, tough situation.

Crawford’s exit from the series comes after a number of reports describing on-set incidents that took place during season 2. Clayne himself opened up about a pair of them, but also said that he strives to be professional and respectful on-set. He also was defended by a number of co-stars both past and present.

Given that we weren’t on set during any of the alleged incidents, it doesn’t feel right to make judgments on almost anything there. What we do think is that moving forward, Lethal Weapon is in a tricky spot — they have to introduce a new main character and get viewers on board with them. That will be tough given the attachment that is there already to Martin Riggs. Beyond just that, they have to deal with the immediate reactions to this cast change.
