It seems as though Lauren Cohan’s upcoming schedule is now significantly busier than it was. We knew that she was going to be returning for at least a handful of episodes of The Walking Dead season 9; now, it’s also official that her new show Whiskey Cavalier is coming to ABC.
This show is going to star Cohan alongside Scandal alum Scott Foley as two federal agents who work to save the world. Check out the logline that CarterMatt has for you below for a little bit more information on what you can expect:
After an emotional breakup, FBI agent Will Chase (codename: Whiskey Cavalier) is assigned to work with CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: Fiery Tribune). Together, they lead an inter-agency team of spies who periodically save the world (and one other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.
What this means for the future of Cohan on The Walking Dead is pretty clear: It’s not looking good. Unless the series finds a way in which to write the Maggie character off for some substantial period of time, they only alternative is that they kill her off at the end of the arc which is completely heartbreaking since we’ve seen her lose Glenn, and she is currently still pregnant with his baby and is leading Hilltop. All of this began with some struggles over a contract extension and this has led us to where we are right now.
As bummed as we would be to lose Cohan from The Walking Dead we do hope that people out there give the new show a chance — this does have the potentially to be dramatic, interesting, and also hopefully a good time. This is a show that ABC does desperately need on their schedule given that they’ve got a lot of middling series these days that have not performed anywhere near as well on the schedule.
We’ll have more on some other upcoming fall seasons for all of the networks soon — for news on renewals / cancellations, be sure to check out our guide.
