The Big Bang Theory season 12 premiere date hopes; is it final season?
Before diving into that, let’s have a quick discussion regarding the show’s future as a whole. CBS renewed the show a good while ago for both a season 11 and season 12. With that in mind, there really hasn’t been any drama for some time in regards to its future. Instead, the question most people should wonder right now is whether or not the twelfth season is the last. Based on most quotes from the cast and creative team, that’s the plan — for now. Nothing is official until CBS says it’s official, but it’s best to prepare as though the end is near.
In some ways, it makes sense that the end would be near given that so many of these characters now have what they’ve always wanted. Raj still has a ways to go, but so many of them are married and seemingly happier in their careers than they’ve been. We’ve watched them all grow and evolve to the point where the next phase of their lives is largely set. There are still ways to keep the show going and have it be funny, but it’s hard to feel like we’re being deprived of something in the event CBS and the cast decide that now is the right time to say goodbye.
Now, let’s talk possible premiere dates. You can probably lock in the last week or so of September as to when The Big Bang Theory is returning. Beyond that, though, there are some other interesting discussions to be had. For starters, does CBS keep the series on Thursday nights? With Thursday Night Football ending (at least on this particular network), there is an opportunity if the powers that be want it to move the show somewhere else and create a great venue for it there.
However, at the same time there are opportunities to do a few different things elsewhere, including moving the series to Monday nights. That lineup on the network is suffering a great deal, and if we were the powers that be we’d consider consolidating some of the comedies down and focusing on a lineup that can draw bigger ratings consistently. Putting The Big Bang Theory and also the Murphy Brown revival on the same night could be a way to do that, especially if you were to throw in there Young Sheldon and then also a new show to help get off to a great start.
