Arrow actor Paul Blackthorne lands new role on The InBetween

Paul Blackthorne

You’re not going to have to wait long to see more of Paul Blackthorne following his time on Arrow — the actor has already signed on for a new TV project.

Blackthorne is set to be a series regular next in The InBetween, a new series coming to NBC during the upcoming 2018-19 season. This is a series led by Harriet Dyer, Anne-Marie Johnson, Cindy Luna, and others, and you can see the official logline for more:

A mysterious young woman reluctantly uses her gift of clairvoyance to help a veteran LAPD detective and a damaged ex-FBI outsider solve the most unnerving and challenging cases the city encounters. This eerie ability also opens the door for her to see and talk to the dead, who are seeking help for unresolved problems, whether she likes it or not.

Does this show sound a whole lot like Ghost Whisperer meets Pushing Daisies? Sure, but not that we mind it! The InBetween fits pretty well into some of the whos that we love to watch around the site and we’ve got a lot of hope that it will be a part of a great lineup that includes some other established favorites. We don’t think this pickup necessarily kills the future of Timeless, The Blacklist, or some other bubble shows — with that being said, though, there’s always a reason to fear this time of year given how many series do end up tending to go the way of the dodo.

Above all else, for now, we’re just happy for Blackthorne, an extraordinary actor who hopefully gets a chance to be a regular presence on a new show. Arrow did give him some good material over the years, but with Sara on Legends of Tomorrow and the Earth-1 version of Laurel dead, it was a little more challenging for him as of late.
