Chicago Fire season 7: Could an original cast member leave?
For now, what we know is this. According to a report from Deadline, Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer have signed one-year deals to return for the seventh season of the show. Meanwhile, there are negotiations with other original cast members in David Eigenberg, Monica Raymund, and Eamonn Walker about returning to the series.
We don’t want to give away any potential spoilers regarding Thursday night’s finale so with that in mind, we’re not going to go into any further details at the moment. For now, what you should know is this: It’s possible that at least one cast member who has been there from the very beginning may not return. Would this be terrible? Absolutely so, but not altogether surprising. Once you get past a sixth season for any show, there is a tendency for prices to go up and with that, cast members depart. It happens with a lot of series out there, and that could be especially the case with all things One Chicago. These shows are great jobs, but they also take many of the cast members away from their homes and their families. Six years is a long time to be in another city for so many months out of the year, even if the pay is good and the job beneficial to your career.
Out of all of the cast members, the one that is probably the hardest to replace at the moment is Raymund, largely because of the fact that Dawson and Casey (Spencer) are married and it’s hard to fathom any logical reason for Dawson to go away from her husband and her firehouse family.
