Chicago PD season 6 premiere date hopes for NBC drama
Let’s kick things off at the moment with this: Technically, there is no official renewal for season 6. Nonetheless, we know that it is probably coming. (Update: It’s official! The show is coming back.) Chicago PD may actually be the most successful part of One Chicago at the moment — it has a syndication deal and it serves as a perfect companion to Law & Order: SVU on NBC Wednesday night. These two shows work together rather well in telling interesting, thought-provoking stories.
Now, let’s just assume that Chicago PD is coming back for a sixth season so that we can move forward talking about the next order of business: When it would be coming back for another season. More than likely, NBC is going to be kicking off the show in either late September or early October. There is no real indication of it changing timeslots and we don’t expect that. The same goes for a likely 22-episode order. This is what works well for the show; just know that in addition to this, you are likely to also see some other cameos from Chicago PD characters on Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. (That is, of course, provided that those shows also come back for another season.)
As for how long we imagine the series lasting beyond this, one of the interesting things about this series is that it really has no specific end date. The series is about Intelligence; we don’t quite think that it is about Voight, Antonio, or any other character. This is about a unit of people trying to do whatever they can in order to make the city of Chicago better. With that, we feel like it can withstand cast exits, schedule changes, or anything else.
For the time being, we’re just interested in seeing where Chicago PD goes from here. We’re coming off of one of the most interesting, political seasons of the show to date and there is certainly potential for things to escalate and veer in all sorts of directions.
