True Detective season 3 is going to be premiering at some point in 2019 and for the sake of today’s article, we come bearing a little more of the latest casting news.

According to a new report from Deadline, you’re going to be seeing both Josh Hopkins (Quantico) and Jodi Balfour (The Crown) are going to both be appearing in the upcoming batch of episodes in recurring roles. Meanwhile, Lonnie Chavis, who plays the young version of Randall in This Is Us, is also going to be stopping by.

When it comes to Hopkins, he is going to be taking on the role of Jim Dobkins, a private attorney who is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is involved in deposing state police detectives in an investigation that he is working on. Meanwhile, Balfour is going to be playing a love interest for Detective Roland West. Finally, Chavis is going to appear as the son of Wayne Hays (played by Mahershala Ali) at the age of 9.

While there have been a number of various castings announced (read more here) when it comes to True Detective season 3, there is still at least some element of mystery when it comes to the overall story. HBO has been fairly coy on releasing information other than making it clear that the upcoming batch of episodes is going to be set in Arkansas and tell the story of a crime that spans several decades. It has a similar vibe to the first season, which features Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. That batch of episodes ended up becoming a runaway hit for HBO and led us to the point where we are getting more of the series nopw. HBO took its time in preparing to launch the third season, which is one of the biggest reasons we have some hope the story will live up to some of our expectations.
