Ratings: Lucifer season 3 recovers; Elementary steady; The Resident rises

Lucifer season 3

The latest Lucifer season 3 ratings are in, and for those of you who wanted to see a bump in the right direction for “Quintessential Deckerstar,” the series did end up delivering.

The Fox drama recovered from one of its lowest ratings ever to finish this time around with a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While this is hardly one of the best performances out there for the show, we’ll take any sort of movement in the right direction this time of year. This is good for the series moving into the big finale, but also in its quest to be renewed for another season.

With The Resident (0.9, up from the week before) officially coming back now for another season, that does remove one show from the logjam that is existing over at Fox. We have three super-strong bubble shows right now in Lucifer, Gotham, and Lethal Weapon, and personally we’d be surprised if all three make it to another season. All come from outside studios and with that in mind, none of them really have the leg up on the other. This may just come down to fan enthusiasm and DVR numbers — odds are, we’ll know a firm decision by early next week.

As for some other news on the ratings from last night…

Elementary holds firm – For its second week on the air the CBS show managed to keep the entirety of the 0.6 rating that it had from the premiere. While we’re not entirely sure it will ever improve from this, the Jonny Lee Miller series has a loyal audience that could stick with it throughout the course of the summer.

What’s happening with Dancing with the Stars– After getting just a 1.0 rating for its second week of competition, shouldn’t someone be starting to wonder if doing this all-athletes season was really the right move?

If you missed it…
