Fear the Walking Dead season 4. Is Ruben Blades returning?

Is Ruben Blades returning on Fear the Walking Dead season 4? We do know that there is a desire to get more of Daniel Salazar in the future. This is a character who has cheated death before (think back to the second season), but based on some of the other details that are out there we’ve got a good bit of hope now that we could be seeing the character again despite what happened at the end of season 3.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, show executive producer Andrew Chambliss had the following to say on the subject of a possible return for Blades, and also how exciting it will be to see him again:

“He is alive and out there, [but] the details surrounding that are something that we’re still keeping under wraps … He’s [made it through] a fire in a wine cellar, then getting shot in the face and then a dam explosion… He’s definitely a survivor!”

Daniel is, by far, one of the most intriguing characters within the Walking Dead / Fear the Walking Dead universe mostly because he’s got such a checkered past and has such a propensity for causing great chaos. We’re insanely curious to see where he would be on the other side of the time jump.

At the moment, we also do think that Fear the Walking Dead really needs a character like Daniel given everything that we’ve seen on season 4 so far. We’ve already seen the departure of Frank Dillane from the show already and, beyond that, there are still some questions that we’ve got on the subject of whether or not we’re going to see Kim Dickens’ character survive. The show is a little light at the moment when it comes to characters from the first season. The more that it can find a way to include, the better off it will be.
