The Resident episode 13 sneak peek: Nic calls the police
In the new sneak peek below (via TV Guide) you can get a fairly good sense as to precisely how desperate Emily VanCamp’s character is for answers right now. She’s in a desperate spot — she doesn’t have her job at Chastain anymore and, beyond that, she’s being followed by someone who could feasibly want to hurt her. The closer she becomes to exposing Dr. Lane Hunter for the dangerous doctor she is, the more danger that she puts herself in — and, in turn, the more danger she may put others close to her in.
This is why in this sneak peek Nic receives some resistance as she tries to use some of her remaining hospital contacts to get more information to prove her case. The reason that nobody really wants to help her is rather clear — nobody is altogether willing to put their own career on the line. Even if Nic has a lot of respect for everything she’s done on the job, this is still an incredibly delicate situation that she finds herself in.
It was hard before for Nic to get answers or information to help prove herself innocent in Lily’s death; now, it is borderline impossible. With Dr. Bell running the show and with Lane manipulating a relationship that she has with him, they’re completely in control. It’s going to take definitive proof and a whole lot of effort in order to turn the tide here and that could prove very much difficult. Remember, there was a promo that showed that at some point this season, Nic could be ending up in an orange jumpsuit. We haven’t actually made it to that point in the story just yet. (As of right now, Nic isn’t even getting help from the police! It’s pretty brutal.)
