Station 19 episode 9 preview: Why is Ben angry at Pruitt?
Below, the Station 19 episode 9 synopsis offers up some more information on the subject of what is coming up next:
In the final days before the Station 19 captaincy is announced, Pruitt warns Andy not to be disappointed with the outcome. Meanwhile, Ben gets upset with Pruitt for having told Bailey the dangers of firefighting; and the team gets trapped inside the garage of a burning house, putting several lives at risk.
There are a few different interesting things of note here, but for us, one of the most interesting is simply this: Station 19 has spent most of the season telling the story of Pruitt as a man whose health is very much on the brink. Is it really the right thing for Ben to be causing conflict with him right now? We do understand why he would want to, mostly because Ben has tried to present the job of being a firefighter to Bailey in a very kid-gloves sort of way. She’s tried to be okay with it, but some of that tension has clearly been bubbling underneath the surface for the majority of the season.
As for the Captaincy story, we do think that there is something that would be interesting about seeing neither Andy nor Jack get it. Why? There’s something fun about seeing the two as underdogs. Also, we’re still in the first season! If Andy gets all the way to the top of the Station 19 food chain at the end of one season (even if she does deserve it), where else is there for the story to climb from here?
