The Crown season 3: Helena Bonham Carter, Jason Watkins castings official

Crown season 2

For everyone out there looking forward to The Crown season 3, there are now two more reasons to be excited today! Netflix has confirmed a couple of big castings, though one of which has been reported in the press for quite some time. We’re speaking here specifically about Helena Bonham Carter, who is coming on board as HRH Princess Margaret.

In a statement, Carter had the following to say about the challenges that await her: “I’m not sure which I’m more terrified about – doing justice to the real Princess Margaret or following in the shoes of Vanessa Kirby’s Princess Margaret. The only thing I can guarantee is that I’ll be shorter (than Vanessa).”

Meanwhile, Jason Watkins of Taboo and Being Human (among dozens of other things) is slated to play Harold Wilson. He confirmed the casting, and his reunion with show executive producer Peter Morgan, with the following: “I am delighted to become part of this exceptional show. And so thrilled to be working once again with Peter Morgan. Harold Wilson is a significant and fascinating character in our history. So looking forward to bringing him to life, through a decade that transformed us culturally and politically. And excited to be working so closely with Olivia; and the whole team.”

Obviously, expectations are extremely high for The Crown season 3 given the awards recognition that has been given to the first two seasons of the show. It’s one of the most exquisite, visually-stunning series out there that tells a story surprisingly few people know in-depth. Granted, the show has been in a little bit of controversy as of late, due to the reveals that series star Claire Foy (who played Queen Elizabeth for the first two seasons) was paid less than Matt Smith (who played Philip).

The Crown season 3 does not have an official premiere date as of yet.
