Is a Scorpion season 5 happens, how can CBS promote it further?

We’re only a couple of weeks away now from the CBS upfront presentation, but unfortunately, there is still no word on a Scorpion season 5.

For the sake of this article, though, we want to focus on a big hypothetical situation: Provided that a Scorpion season 5 happens, how does CBS work to promote the show to make it more successful? Within this article, we come up with a few different things in which the network can do to help get the numbers charting in a better direction almost right away.

1. Play up the story and the humor more – Some of the promos for Scorpion often do very little other than tout the show as being about a team of geniuses. They don’t give a good sense as to who any of the characters are or some of what they bring to the table in terms of their skill. We’d like to see more effort put into giving the show more love on other CBS broadcasts — the name Scorpion on its own doesn’t really mean anything. There needs to be a little bit more to court some of the casual viewers.

2. More notable guest stars, especially from within the worlds of science and tech – One of the things that The Big Bang Theory does constantly in order to promote itself is book notable names from either science fiction or the actual science community. Why doesn’t Scorpion do more than this? We think that if it could create more tangible connections between itself and real geniuses, that serves as another great engine to promote the show. In general, though, just getting more known names would go a long way to ensuring that there are new viewers checking it out.

3. An earlier timeslot – Even if you have to move Scorpion off of Monday night we do think that it’s a move worth making. Our suggestion would be this — move NCIS: Los Angeles back to 8:00 p.m. Eastern on Sundays and then air Scorpion and then Madam Secretary right after it. It could benefit from some of the Sunday lead-ins during the NFL season and get more viewers hooked on it again. Beyond that, it’d have more support than it has had after a difficult Monday comedy block.
