Quick Hits: Riverdale season 3 promotions; The Good Fight renewed; Sabrina series title
According to a new report from TVInsider, both Vanessa Morgan (who plays Toni Topaz) on the series and Charles Melton (the new Reggie, following the departure of Ross Butler) are going to be regulars on the upcoming season. The importance of making these promotions right now stems from the fact that you want to ensure that you have these characters available to you whenever you want — that is very important when you consider the rivalry that is present between Reggie and Archie, or with the relationship that is there with Toni and Cheryl Blossom at the moment. We welcome both promotions, though they won’t really make much of an impact until Riverdale season 3 premieres presumably a little later this year.
As for some other news on the day…
The Good Fight renewed by CBS All Access – While this may not be much of a surprise to many people out there, it’s still welcome news to receive. The Good Wife spin-off show remains one of the marquee series for the streaming arm of CBS and we imagine that so long as the quality remains there, we’re going to see the network want to keep it for as long as they possibly can.
In a statement confirming the renewal news, CBS All Access executive vice president of original content Julie McNamara had the following to say:
“The Good Fight is a perfect example of what we strive for a CBS All Access original series to be: thought-provoking, boundary-pushing and, most of all, incredibly entertaining … We can’t wait to see what Robert and Michelle King, their creative team and the incomparable cast will bring to audiences in Season 3.”
Netflix’s Sabrina series now has a title – This should be much of a shock, given the comic series on which it is based. The upcoming show will be titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and is set to star Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka in the title role.
Sabrina was originally conceived as a spin-off-of-sorts to Riverdale over on The CW before making the move to Netflix thanks to an automatic two-season order.
