Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 4 preview; state of the ratings

Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 4

What’s coming up on Fear the Walking Dead season 4 episode 4? There isn’t too much information known about this episode as of yet, at least beyond some of what AMC has released via the attached synopsis:

Al’s questioning uncovers some surprising truths about the group’s past; John Dorie receives unexpected news.

What this synopsis does that is so effective is rather simple: It gives you a sense that we’re going to get some more insight into the new characters this season. It’s pretty clear at this point that season 4 is a reinvention for the show, and hopefully it’s one that will continue … while also allowing us to still see the essence of the original in the process.

Some good news in the ratings

It was inevitable that Fear the Walking Dead was going to experience some sort of big ratings drop in the second week on the air. After all, remember that the first episode came on after The Walking Dead and that is a ratings performance that just so happens to be fairly hard to match.

Yet, there’s still some good news when it comes to the second episode of the show that aired on AMC this past week — the numbers are still better than they were for most of season 3! Last week’s new episode ended up generating in total a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is the best rating (excluding last week) for the series since back at the start of season 3.

We do think there’s a reason for confidence when it comes to a Fear the Walking Dead season 5 renewal. While the evidence is limited, we will say that the performance through two episodes so far speaks to both the strength of this season and then also some of the smart decision-making behind the scenes when it comes to bringing Lennie James over from the flagship series.
