The 2018 Daytime Emmy Awards are happening today in California, but unfortunately, there’s no real way to watch them through television itself.
Is there a certain degree of irony that comes with this? Absolutely so, given the fact that we are talking about an awards show that is about TV that is not actually airing on TV. It’s difficult since the primetime ratings for a daytime-themed show wouldn’t be altogether high, and there’s a reason why it hasn’t had a broadcast partner for some time.
Yet, we do have a few things that could help you check out the show, starting now! First and foremost, you can watch the Daytime Emmys red carpet below in its entirety below. Some of the biggest actors, hosts, and other assorted personalities will be there. This is a great venue for all of these entertainers to get together and have fun — it’s a little bit looser and lighter than what we see with the flagship Emmys, largely because there is less pressure on it. It’s a little more about the show itself and the people in attendance, and with that a little bit less about making it appeal to a massive audience of people watching at home.
As for the Daytime Emmys themselves, you can watch all of them starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time (5:00 p.m. Pacific) at the YouTube Channel here. That’s a way to see some of the acceptance speeches and a whole lot more. Hopefully, it’s a fun show! A little bit later tonight we’ll come back with some of the winners — while the Daytime Emmys are not necessarily our area of coverage, there is a lot of great, challenging work that is done within that medium that doesn’t get anywhere near enough attention.
