White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2018: Where to watch, live stream

White House Correspondents Dinner 2018

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner 2018 is set to take place in Washington DC on Saturday night — with that in mind, do you want to know the best spots to either watch or live stream the proceedings?

As is typically the case for this event, our #1 recommendation is always C-SPAN. Nobody covers events in Washington quite like them, which is mostly without commentary and with you getting to see things precisely how they play out. Coverage is officially going to begin at around 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. It’s around this point that the main portion of the evening’s proceedings begin, including with an appearance from The Daily Show comedian Michelle Wolf. (If you have a desire to watch the events unfold earlier, CNN and other cable networks will be covering some of the red carpet, though will be interspersing some of their coverage with a Donald Trump rally in Michigan — which is probably just what the President wanted to distract viewers away from the event. This is the second straight year in which he is not attending.)

If you want to live stream the event, you can do so from C-SPAN’s official website — though don’t worry if you miss it, since there are often YouTube videos of the entire performance from the comedian online the moment after their set ends. Most of the proceedings in general are over by around the time you get to 11:00 p.m. Eastern.

Do we have huge expectations for the event this year? Not really, mostly because it feels almost like an afterthought already. With it getting less press there are, in turn, fewer notable people in attendance. Wolf is a great host, but it just doesn’t feel like her set tonight is getting as much pre-show buzz as it should. Alas, we don’t quite see the self-described “Nerd Prom” becoming a huge thing again until we get to the other side of the Trump Presidency and someone else decides to actually attend it again.
