Outlander notes: The latest Sam Heughan news

It’s without question that this has been a quieter week on the Outlander news front, most notably in that there hasn’t been all that much news to publicly report about the show. Filming has still been going on, but in relatively quiet fashion.

What we thought we would do for this morning is give you a few assorted headlines that are going on in regards to series star Sam Heughan, mostly because there are a few different things going on with him, including the latest on his new movie The Spy Who Dumped Me. This is his first major U.S. studio film, and at CinemaCon Thursday there was some new footage officially revealed. Stars Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis were both in attendance; Sam, of course, is busy working on Outlander in Scotland.

Unfortunately, the footage from the event has yet to be released publicly, but you can see below a brief segment from Los Angeles’ KTLA discussing the movie and some other upcoming releases. This seems to echo most of what we’ve heard so far regarding the movie’s positive reception. If the preview ever is shared publicly (and officially, mind you), we’ll have it here at the website.

The Spy Who Dumped Me will arrive in theaters (at least in North America) on August 3.

Secret announcement

There’s some more exciting news for Sam to share, judging from the message that he put on his Instagram account earlier this week — unfortunately, you may have to wait until the summer to find out about it. Could it be a new movie role or a chance to get involved more with something unrelated to acting? Both are possibilities, but unfortunately this is one of those times in which patience really is a virtue. (Also, we wouldn’t want to be the sort to come in and swoop this sort of announcement away from Sam!)
