Billions season 4 renewal official at Showtime
Is this a surprise? Hardly. The ratings for season 3 to date have been very solid and over the past year or so especially, we’d argue that Billions has become one of the most-popular shows on premium cable. It has an active fan following and while the series remains somewhat under-served when it comes to awards nominations, at the same time we don’t think most of the show’s viewers really care. What matters to them more than anything else is that they continue to get an excellent series jam-packed with drama and that’s going to keep coming their way.
Pending some sort of huge, dramatic delay, all signs point towards Billions season 4 premiering at some point in 2019.
In a new statement, Gary Levine, Showtime’s President of Programming, had the following to say:
“Billions continues to build its audience as it explores the heights of power and wealth even as it plumbs the depths of the human psyche … [Co-creators] Brian [Koppelman] and David [Levien] are gifted, propulsive storytellers and we can’t wait to see where they and their extraordinary cast will take us in season four.”

As for how long a series like Billions can really last on the air, a lot of that at the moment tends to depend heavily on where the story goes. We do think that there are years’ worth of drama when it comes to the feud between Chuck Rhoades and Bobby Axelrod, but the principal problem there is this: How do you have the two circling each other forever without either party ending up in prison for years? This show has to find a way to keep tension high with that also in mind.
