The Path canceled; season 4 for Hulu series not happening

Here is some unfortunate, surprising news when it comes to the future of The Path — it doesn’t appear as though a season 4 is happening.

In responding to a person on Twitter earlier this week (thanks to SpoilerTV for the heads-up), executive producer Jessica Goldberg made it clear that the third season for the Hulu series was going to be it. This is a show that did have a great run over the past few years and helped to usher in more original programming to the streaming service. That includes The Handmaid’s Tale, which was a huge success throughout awards season over the course of the past year. It would have been nice to see The Path get a larger piece of the awards pie, especially when you consider the cast including the likes of Hugh Dancy, Michelle Monaghan, and Aaron Paul. Hopefully, it doesn’t take too long before we see all three of them in some other projects.

It was never the plan for The Path to end with season 3; just one month ago Goldberg had made it clear that she was hoping to get a season 4. Judging from her tweet it doesn’t seem as though a revival is going to be happening elsewhere, though of course we will let you know if there is any other news that surfaces on the subject of the series’ future over the course of the next several weeks.

For now, let’s just tribute a show that brought some great, interesting ideas to the table — often, shows that really kick off a movement for a network (we really do think that The Path did that with Hulu) don’t get to last as long as we’d like. It’s still easy to be grateful for the three seasons that we did get.
