Sense8 series finale movie premiere date revealed at Netflix

Sense8 series finale

After a great deal of waiting, we finally know the official premiere for Sense8 and its series finale movie over at Netflix — Friday, June 8.

To go along with this news, we have a short synopsis as to some of what could be coming up:

Personal lives are pushed aside as the cluster, their sidekicks, and some unexpected allies band together for a rescue mission and BPO take-down in order to protect the future of all Sensates.

Do we wish that this “third season” was longer than just a two-hour event? Certainly, but we’re also cognizant of the fact that for a while, it didn’t appear as though we were going to be getting this, either. Netflix had originally canceled their property after two seasons, presumably due to low viewership in relation to the series’ hefty cost — however, some extensive fan campaigns caused them to change their minds enough in order to make this finale movie happen. This is going to be a worthy send-off for the series and an opportunity to really offer closure for many different characters.

On the other side of this, we’re not exactly hopeful that there is going to be more Sense8 but even if there’s not, that is totally okay. At this particular point in time, it feels almost greedy to ask for more. This is a gift and it’s something that should be embraced. This series celebrates a sense of adventure and the scope of the world; to go along with that, this is one of the most inclusive shows of its kind that opened up its viewers to new types of people they may not encounter in their everyday lives. We like to think that this is a show that has impacted the lives of so many viewers in a positive way. Kudos to Netflix for doing the right thing and properly allowing Sense8 to go off into the sunset in the way in which it should.
