Is Eric Christian Olsen leaving NCIS: Los Angeles at the end of season 9? There are some moments from Sunday night’s new episode that may have you slightly worried on the subject of this very thing.
To be specific, tonight’s new episode featured Deeks having a conversation with Callen about a dream of his to someday have a bar. This was something that he hasn’t actually talked about with Kensi as of yet, and you have to think that she would have a pretty distinct reaction to this.
As for why Deeks is starting to think this way in terms of his future, a good bit of that seemingly has to do with his upcoming wedding. He realizes that there may be a time in which he doesn’t want to do this job forever — it is dangerous, and while he’s great at it there are some other things that he would like to pursue. Having a bar is certainly a little bit more out of harm’s way.
One thing we should note here in regards to what’s going on here is that there has been no public indication that Olsen, who has been a part of the series since season 1, is getting set to leave. It’s possible that Deeks and the bar may be similar to Danny and Steve with the restaurant on Hawaii Five-0 — this could be the show laying the foundation for something different as opposed to something that could force him out of the show. The bar story could be a fun thing to explore here and there on the series moving forward. Eventually (preferably once NCIS: Los Angeles is over), Deeks could move over and start running the bar a little more full-time. These are just some things to think about as we move further into the end of the season.
There is at least one other episode coming up this season that will be taking on the story of Deeks and the bar — once there is more news about that subject, we’ll have it for you here.
