The Good Karma Hospital season 3 renewal official at ITV

Following tonight’s finale episode, will The Good Karma Hospital season 3 happen over on ITV? It’s certainly the perfect question to ask at this particular moment.
Unfortunately, at present there is no 100% verification on the future of the series, though we very much wish that there was. Maybe that will change in the closing minutes of the series, given that sometimes this is when shows choose to make their renewals official. (We did recently see that with Endeavour.)
We do think that in terms of the series’ commercial success, there is reason to believe that it could come back for more episodes. It has performed respectably well so far through season 2, and for ITV it does fill a void and fulfill a need that they don’t have almost anywhere else — an intelligent medical drama that also allows for a different sort of humor and culture. It’s a show that can make you smile and also make you cry and there is so much more that can be done in future seasons. The one thing that is slightly a bummer about The Good Karma Hospital, at least at present, is just how short some of these seasons really are! It feels ultimately like right when the show gets going, it then has to go off the air again. Six episodes isn’t a lot to tell a story, and with commercials in there these episodes are already shorter than most other shows airing on the BBC.
If the renewal for season 3 comes, hopefully we’ll get a chance to revisit The Good Karma Hospital in the spring of next year. With the weather thawing and the sun staying out longer, this really does feel like the perfect time to visit this community, this hospital, and some of our favorite characters from Lydia to Ruby to Gabriel. We’ll have more news on the subject of the series’ future the moment that it becomes available.
