Ransom season 2 episode 4 preview: ‘A Free Man in Paris’

Ransom season 2 episode 4

Leading up to Ransom season 2 episode 4 entitled “A Free Man in Paris,” you better be prepared to see a word mentioned that you haven’t heard in quite some time: Guantanamo. Remember when there were so few headlines elsewhere in American politics that this was actually a hot-button topic? It is still out there, even if it’s not getting much attention anymore, and it will be a focal point for the story coming up.

As to how that will happen, we think the Ransom season 2 episode 4 synopsis gives you a pretty good sense of precisely what you can expect to see:

“A Free Man in Paris” – When a former Guantanamo guard is taken hostage by terrorists, Eric is surprised when he learns that his best chance of saving the man’s life is to work with a former Guantanamo detainee who is now working with the captors, on RANSOM, Saturday, April 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

How do you work to get through to a former detainee at this prison? We imagine that this will be one of the episode’s big questions since you’re putting yourself into a position where you have to figure out how to handle someone with a very different experience from your own. Eric excels under many of these situations, but this one may be a little more extraordinary than most.

The latest season 2 ratings

As we look at how the CBS series fared last week, we do unfortunately have some bad news. Episode 2 generated just a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, down 25% from the premiere rating, and just over 2.55 million viewers. As of right now Ransom is down year-to-year both in terms of total viewers and also its performance in the demo. Do we think that it could be faring better? Certainly, but the problem it faces is that it is a Saturday series airing in the springtime without a ton of promotion in America. It’s such an enigma because of the low expectations that it’s hard to gauge its renewal odds … but we do think it needs to fare slightly better for us to feel more confident in the future.
