If Scorpion season 5 happens, should Walter / Paige get back together?
Are we hoping that this happens? Absolutely, but there’s a good chance that we may not know until May. For now, we want to play a game of what-if and assume that there will be a season 5 even if it’s not for certain. Now, we’re really crossing our fingers on one other subject: Hoping that there is going to be some movement when it comes to Walter and Paige’s relationship.
Personally, we don’t so much have a problem with the two’s relationship falling apart over what happened with Florence. Why? We’re talking about a character in Walter who is, at his core, a pretty socially-awkward individual. Paige has done a really good job over time of getting him to be more comfortable in his own skin. Yet, at the same time, he’s still someone who doesn’t understand how to handle situations and he completely botched this. He hasn’t had much relationship history — that doesn’t excuse his actions, though, and that’s why we are here. At a certain point it does make sense for Paige to want someone who is emotionally on her level and doesn’t have some of Walter’s struggles.
Here is the biggest problem that we have with the way that the Walter/Paige story was written in the finale — can you imagine what happens here in the event that this is the end of the story? It just doesn’t feel right to make this a cliffhanger when you don’t know for sure that you’re getting another season. If there is a renewal we obviously do want to see these two characters back together. However, it can’t happen right away. This split was so severe that we have to imagine that there are going to not recover for a little while. We’d like to see them back together in season 5, but maybe not until at least four or five installments down the road. Give them time to breathe and let Walter learn. If that happens, maybe there is a chance that this relationship can be built to last.
